[The video switches on to Japan, and he leaves the device lying there. He's got his uniform on, though his arms aren't through the sleeves, and he's looking pretty grim. Ignoring that, he seems to be in the hospital which is not in good shape.]

...Forgive me for what has occurred.

Ah, but if I may ask, what has happened to the hospital? It is... [a pause. he looks away from the camera.]

My sword is missing. I am not sure how I will maneuver back to the apartments, but I suppose I can try my best.

[an even longer pause. so much pausing.]

My sincerest apologies to those I have let down. [and he reaches over and clicks off the feed]

[Oh Japan, you assume Seifer would let Russia make demands on you :( ...Yeah how did he get in this situation anyways. Aside from that Seifer's just flicking you in the head.]

City's teeming with monsters, Marshall and Latimir are both destroyed, as you can see the hospital ain't exactly winning any structural awards and we're down a few people. Kantarou's got a barrier up around the high school, you can't get in, but neither can the monsters. The doctors are in there and I left Germany in charge; safest place to be right now. Your family'll be fine.

[Japan is optimistic in most things, but others... And what the heck man his head. He gives a sigh.]

[Fff I wouldn't worry over him Japan; nothing you can say or do will make him stop to look after himself now. He tilts his head a bit and regards Japan, very much like a commander to a soldier ~~see what you miss out on when you're dead a week~~. The irony that he gets family more than his friends who actually have family isn't lost on him here.]

[Japan watches Seifer for a moment. ...Why does this remind him of the beginning of westernization all over again. He was supposed to be almost done with modernizing, and yet there were people like Seifer who took his ideas or thoughts and threw them on the ground. He sighed to himself a little, recalled that he was adapting to things, and moved to grab his sword.]

Very well, Seifer-san. However, when I return, I would like to have a word with you as well.

[and by a word he means talking about the giant stress ball that is Seifer.]

[|D lol is he in trouble? He does consider saying no just on principal at first. If it were anyone else, but Japan he would. He doesn't have time for crybabies. But... it is Japan asking. So. [MILDLY YES. But that's a slightly separate issue and he will just be mildly distant as that works out. He does appreciate Seifer's words, though, and gives a small bow to show it. So many bows, as always, but some are a bit different than others.]

[Playing out would be awesome o/ I think we can just... time skip fff. [Okay awesome. Japan will re-enter the scene, still too lazy to properly wear his jacket, and spot Seifer. He moves towards him a little but calls out and gives the smallest wave.]

Ah, Seifer-san! ...Is now a convenient time to speak?

[He waits for a moment, looking at something on the communicator with a frown, before looking up.]

If you gotta. Let's hear it.

[Just, waiting. You've got his attention Japan, you probably shouldn't waste it; he doesn't actually do this often.]

[He shifts a little nervously. Seifer's attention is a precious gem obviously. Even so, Japan senses Seifer wants to rush this, and he doesn't really think that would be best..]

A few minutes of conversation is all I ask. Perhaps we could sit somewhere. If you are in the middle of something, I can wait until you are ready..

[thinking seifer needs a break from his communicator anyway..]

[Lol break from work? What is this. There's a pause, and then Seifer stands up with a small sigh, shoving his communicator in a pocket.]

Alright. C'mon.

[Grabbing his gunblade he leads the way to one of the unoccupied rooms in Horton. It looks terrible for obvious reasons, but it's empty, it's quiet and there's the usual assortment of furniture you'd find in most apartments. Seifer takes a seat on the couch and glances at Japan expectantly.]

[Japan shuffles over and sits down as well, glancing back. Now.. how to make this not like a naggy "be careful" speech. ...casual conversation leading to points.]

...You have been very involved in things within the city. Do you manage to keep up with it all?

[Seifer just, sort of gives Japan an incredulous look. Is that really what this is about?]

I keep up with enough. What about it.

[Stay out of his soul man, that's just creepy lmao. Anyways, he blinks, surprised Japan even noticed any of that. Still a bit of a frown settles over his face and when he speaks there's a definite warning in his voice. He sees where this is going.]

[It's not creepy it's Japanese!! You see the true reason Japan has no pupils is... okay no. But anyway, at that tone, Japan's hands instinctively rise to try and wave away the warning. He stares at Seifer with determination.]

Please do not take such a tone with me, Seifer-san. Ah.. perhaps I can put it in your terms. [BRACE FOR HIS BEST SEIFER IMITATION spoilers it's not the best he expects to be laughed at or maybe hit again]

If you want me to stay out of it then you gotta prove that you can handle it. You're posse, remember? Did you really think I wouldn't notice?

[and then stopping that horrible casual speech and hurhur he said posse]

... Ah, I believe something like that would be said if the situation were reversed.

[Well to say Seifer is surprised is an understatement. This was something he most definitely was not expecting. But oh he will be laughing at this, later. In fact he will probably make fun of Japan forever after this for it. For now though he just looks away.]

[But his hands curl into fists and he does... suddenly look tired.]

What tipped you off?

[he watches carefully, waiting just a moment before speaking]

I am more observant than most. Ah.. your actions speak loudest. [It was hard to pick just one point in time where he noticed it, really]

Tch... Must be losing my grip.

[He falls silent and it's hard not to be pissed. He hates showing weakness. Even if it's Japan... it still stings. He should be better than this. He should be more capable. He should have taken care of this whole entire mess already. But that isn't the case is it, because he isn't good enough. Never good enough.]

The hell do you expect me to do about it? I can't stop now.

[Japan frowns. Really, he's sympathizing with a lot of Seifer's thoughts right now. Showing weakness, even, is never something any country wants to do. Humans, either. It's no different, though some are more stubborn about it than others. He leans forward a little and now it's his turn to try for a comforting hand on the arm.]

Perhaps I could be of some help? ... There are others, as well.. Ah, I believe you can continue to work as you do while allowing more time for yourself. At least a small break would be sufficient at such a time.

[Seifer freezes at that hand on his arm. Is this pity? And the things Japan's saying... What is this. Is he this pathetic? Like some little boy who's gotten in too far over his head? Something very dark and incomprehensible settles on his face. Don't be ashamed to ask for help. Besides, you're only a little boy. That's what Edea had told him before he'd become her knight. Only a little boy... This silence is getting pretty long hunh. There's a short, quiet laugh and something about it is very harsh.]

[He stands up and looks down at the country. Again that laugh, more of a chuckle really, far from pleasant.]

You think I'm a little boy who can't handle war? Who can't get the job done?! Heh... I bid farewell to my childhood a long time ago Japan.

[He doesn't even realizing he's saying the very same thing Edea said to him before she dragged him off to be her knight. But there's a heady feeling running through his brain now like a half remembered dream. What it means to be a knight, to be out in the field, to be doing real work, not propping up this wreck of a city. The situation is hardly any better back home for him; how long had it been since he'd slept back there? How many injuries had he gained in the fighting? The details to worry about, the idiots to deal with, having no one, but his posse to rely on and all the world against him. Discedo is child's play; he won't be broken by it. He refuses to be! Again that chuckle and it really is a nasty sound isn't, there isn't the slightest echo of kindness in it.]

Is this all you wanted?

[He was worried about a harsh reaction, but this was far from anything he expected. He watched, shocked, for a moment, before standing as well. And though he couldn't look down on Seifer, he looked up at him with a sudden sternness. This attitude Seifer was having was distantly familiar.]

You are misunderstanding! [Japan rarely sounds so stern, but something about this held a haunting parallel he had to hammer out.]

You may be young, but I can understand that you have been through much. ...Whether you choose to admit or acknowledge it or not, you have helped me various times, and I cannot stand by as you laugh and taunt your way through such times with the cocky air of a westerner.

If you continue as you are now, do not think I will stand by idly and watch you fall.

[a pause]

I am not trying to insult you.

I won't fall!

[He slashes at the empty air violently with his arm, denying this inevitability. He can't afford to fall. He won't allow it to happen!]

Whatever you think's gonna happen, it ain't! Don't even kid yourself!
