五 [Accidental Video]

[The camera turns on as the device falls over a little, giving a rather interesting view of Japan, huddled in the corner of the room, papers all around him. Not just any papers-- art. They were drawn on. Filled with pictures.

Many strange pairings are scattered about in the pile. (Those are innocent, by the way. His drawings. Are not.) Not just those pictured, but obscure ones you can't even imagine. Have some Tohma/Suguru, Liz/Canada, Seifer/his gun (don't ask about that one). But, whatever you can imagine-- if Japan has spoken with you, you might be here. The more he's spoken with you, the more you seem to be included. Denmark, Tohma, and America.. I feel for you. His family.. should be used to this.

Japan doesn't seem to notice that his communicator fell over, and is smiling a little as he draws. He's not speaking to himself, but he does pause on the occasion to tap a pencil against his chin.

It's when he has just finished a nice picture of Denmark and Sweden that he notices the camera peering over his beautiful drawings. Immediately he reaches over, panic on his face, and shuts it off. MAYBE NO ONE SAW.]

(ooc: I find it necessary to be noted that while I was searching for pictures of pairings that would make the characters squirm, I found art that should never exist. Also, you need pixiv to view them all properly, sorry!)

[CONTINUITY IS FOR THE WEAK.

Eventually, America will be knocking at Japan's door. Open it and you'll find the same teenager, shuffling uncomfortably in a pair of jeans and vest because seriously what are modern clothes.]

[Japan answers it and bows a bit awkwardly. Young Teenage America. So.. interesting.]

Ah, please, make yourself at home, America-san. I was just making a little something to eat.

[Bowing what. Okay. Have befuddlement followed by a small European-styled bow.]

Alright. If you have anything to drink... not tea though.

[He sits his awkward teenage self in a comfy chair. For someone so young, he looked pretty damn stressed.]

Is water alright?

[There wasn't much else aside from tea. Granted, green tea > black tea. But. He knew America would not want either at this time.]

Ah.. how are you feeling, America-san? [Though he can already see.]

[Taking a sip of his water, giving him a little pause.]

I want independence.

[AND THAT PRETTY MUCH SUMS UP HOW WELL HE'S DOING.]

[He moves the whatever-he-made to the table nearby and takes a seat as well, glancing to America. It was strange witnessing him like this.]

I'm scared.

[True. Japan sets down his own water so he can move full attention to America.]

Why is it that you're afraid?

[America just stares into his own cup of water.]

Lots of reasons. Because I'm willing to go all-or-nothing to get it. Because I'll lose England forever. Because freedom could kill me too.

[Finally he looks up. He really does look like a scared kid.]

Because for some reason I trust you enough to tell you this and I have no idea why.

[Japan stares back for the longest time. Really, he's not sure how his words will help. "You'll be fine" turns into "How do you know for sure?" Issues like that make it difficult to really comfort America.

He finds himself moving to give America the most awkward half-fail-hug ever. It's very distant, because hugs are awkward. It's very fail because he has to move to avoid America's cup of water. It's more like an extended shoulder touch-thing, actually. But anyway.]

..Perhaps it is because we are friends, America-san. [And he has more than a few words on fear he's trying to organize.]

[America freezes in the awkward hug, because really, he's not quite as touchy as he later grows to be. Slowly he sets his water down and (awkwardly, of course) returns the distant hug.]

I know. I feel it, and I remember you from when I was very young, but it seems more like a dream than a memory. Ahhh, everything is too confusing!

[And with that, he pulls Japan closer and clings like he did when he was tiny. It's not quite the same as before his chip came out though; he's lankier, shorter, and not quite as confident yet.]

Do you think I'll make it? I have brilliant men writing my Declaration for Independence, a general to lead me... but I'm taking on the most powerful empire in the world. I need to win.

[It's Japan's turn to tense at being pulled closer. O-okay. He's going to need to remain. calm. He leaves it at that, letting other thoughts take priority. A dream? ..Would these things affect how America turns out? He certainly hoped not.]

You will win, America-san.

[Ah, right. He needs a base for that statement.]

The determination of your people isn't something that should be ignored.

[He may or may not be shaking slightly. Hey, it's kind of a daunting task when "rebelling and running away from home" entails full-out war that could end in your death.]

Right. Yeah.

[Pulling away just slightly to give Japan a nervous smile.]

I can do it! I've been practically on my own for centuries. I can do this.

[Japan offers his own smile in return. Even though it's that small, shy one he always has that just barely shows he has emotion.]

That sounds more like America-san.

You are well prepared. You will not go into this war unready. Continue to look forward and things will go smoothly.

You're right! I just have to look forward, and I'll be just fine. Gotta keep an eye on my goals.

[He keeps smiling in return, gaining a little more confidence.]

It's normal that I feel like I wanna puke, right?

[His smile turns into a small laugh.]

Ah, yes. All battles tend to give me that sort of feeling. The most important thing is to put that behind you, and focus on the other feelings.

Don't you agree?

So I won't be the first person to puke on the battlefield? Okay, good.

Of course not. For as long as battle has existed, there has been fear. Fear is not something to be ignored or avoided, but something to be worked around. That is my opinion.

[Sipping his own water now with a brighter smile. DID HE. JUST CHEER YOU UP. DID HE. EVEN A LITTLE.]

I know you will, America-san. I cannot help you fight this battle, but I will be here if you ever wish to speak.

I'll keep that in mind and try not to eat a full breakfast before my first big battle against England.

I think France might be willing to help, if I can convince him that I can win. I'll have to see if I have any other allies in Europe.
